An old house already has a design. We work out what is good about it, what can go, and what it needs to be lived in for another hundred years.

Building survey
We measure, photograph and work out what is original. That decides what we keep.
Design and permits
From sketch to permit drawings, including talks with the municipality and heritage committee.
Building physics
Insulating without suffocating the house: lime, clay and breathable build-ups where needed.
Site supervision
On site every week, with regular craftspeople from the region.

For whom

For anyone who has bought or inherited an old house and wants to do it right.

In practice

White timber-framed house on the river Geul with a low marl block extension and a deep steel window, in morning mist.

House on the Geul

A timber-framed house from 1781 by the river, restored, with a new marl extension beside it.

Does a listed building need a different approach?

Yes, almost every change needs a permit. We consult the municipality beforehand, so the design does not have to change halfway.

Can we stay in the house during the works?

Sometimes, in phases. We discuss it on the first visit, because it shapes the planning.
